3 of the Bay Area’s Best Hard Rock/ Metal bands together for 1 night of amazing music!!! Saturday September 5th! Right here at the House Of Rock! Don’t miss it!

ZED has been making their roaring presence felt in the Bay Area rock scene since 2007 with heavy footprints and sonically indelible marks are San Jose earth shakers ZED. With a sound based on the core principles of blues, heaviness, groove, and feel, this quartet is the genuine article. No bell bottoms, wizard sleeves, or hip huggers for this crew. Instead, it’s a barrage of head-bobbing, air-guitaring, hip-shaking, blues-driven riffage as delivered by the bastards of rock & roll.
From their inception ZED made a name for themselves with their crushing live shows and incessant grooves. Having played together in various projects since 1998, including releasing several albums with the band Stitch for Prosthetic and Metal Blade Records, guitarist/vocalist Peter Sattari and bassist Mark Aceves joined up with guitar wizard Greg Lopez and drummer extraordinaire Sean Boyles in order to create a sound that was uniquely their own, whose sole purpose was to rock. Drawing from their varied influences, ranging from classic ’70s rock to punk and hardcore by way of metal and old school funk, ZED writes music fueled by nasty grooves. The band has been called “a pissed off Led Zeppelin with Chris Cornell meets Ian Astbury on vocals.”
In recent years the bands momentum has exploded, signing to Ripple Music and growing into a household name in the stoner rock community. Their hard-grooving live show has seen the band perform as headliner support at Maryland Doom Fest and numerous SXSW events. Now as ZED prepares to re-issue their classic sophomore record Desperation Blues and release their next full length, they are eagerly anticipating their first European tour, built around what promises to be a benchmark performance at Desertfest London. No matter the consequences, ZED will rumble on!

Scorching quartet capture live set at the House of Rock for April release on Ripple Music

“Crunchy riffs, melodic vocals, and a stoner attitude, they come at you like a full-on Harley Davidson storming down the highway.” — ECHOES AND DUST

On April 24, home of all things riff-heavy and rapid-fire rock Ripple Music will release the new live EP High and Alive from high-octane San Francisco American metal purveyors THE WATCHERS.  Following their 2018 album Black Abyss, the new EP delivers a searing performance recording of the band laying down their signature blend of stoner-doom with flourishes of thrash and riff-metal from across the spectrum of heaviness history.

Recorded live at the House of Rock in Santa Rosa last September, High and Alive captures The Watchers doing what they do best – burning down the stage with jaw-dropping musicianship and infectious heavy anthems.

Says singer Tim Narducci, “We’ve always wanted to record the band in a live setting. The energy and interpretation of the songs are a bit different every time we step on stage, and anything can happen.  High and Alive was an excellent evening of heavy and in the right setting. We were fortunate to have captured this particular performance.”

“A burly mix of classic doom a la The Obsessed with some melodic sludge in the vein of Corrosion of Conformity. It’s heavy stuff, but with massive hooks and soaring anthems.” — TREBLE

“Well-versed in the enigmatic ways of heavy rock, packing an onslaught of massive riffs and twists that take the listener through a heady and heavy musical trip.” — BLABBERMOUTH

Engineered by Evan Alexander and Harry Gale with mixing and mastering by Tim Narducci, High and Alive will be released on digital formats from Ripple Music on April 24th.

In the world of music, Guns N’ Roses need no introduction. Few bands in history have achieved the level of success and recognition that GNR has. The addition of keyboardist Dizzy Reed in 1990 marked a stylistic turning point in the band’s maturity, incorporating piano and the epic tones of the Hammond B-3 into their aggressive hard rock sound.
Born in Hinsdale, Illinois and raised in Colorado, Dizzy started his musical journey in early childhood. His grandmother, who lived in the apartment above, played the organ, and taught Dizzy on her Lowry. Growing up, Dizzy was exposed to his father’s love of Booker T and the MGs. Once young Dizzy realised that was the same instrument he could play, he was hooked. By the age of 12 he was touring with his own band. Other early influences were John Lord, Gregg Rolie, and Grand Funk Railroad.
In 1985, Dizzy moved to Los Angeles, where a wild, rich musical scene was hitting its stride.
It was the place to be. There were thousands of bands from all over the world, trying to be the next big thing. There was an incredible amount of energy and it was magic.”
While rehearsing and living in a Hollywood practice room, Dizzy befriended Axl Rose and, in 1990, he joined Guns N’ Roses on keys and backing vocals for the recording of Use Your Illusion I & II. Making the transition from club rocker to a member of the biggest stadium band in the world required the majesty of the Hammond B-3, which Dizzy employed on the classic tracks “Dust ‘n’ Bones”, “Yesterdays” “14 Years”, and “Don’t Damn Me”.
In 2012, Dizzy was inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Guns N’ Roses. He has toured with the Psychedelic Furs and has toured, recorded and written with supergroup The Dead Daisies whose lineup has featured members of The Cult, Motley Crüe, White Snake, The Rolling Stones and Thin Lizzy.
He also sings lead vocals with his side project, Hookers and Blow. Dizzy is a father of four and lives with his New Zealand-born wife, Nadja, in Los Angeles. On surviving and flourishing in rock’s ‘sharky’ waters, he says, “Never stop learning and exploring, but don’t forget what you do best. Stick to your guns.”
Early 2018 saw the release of Dizzy’s long-awaited solo album through powerhouse indie rock label, Golden Robot Records. The album features players from some of the world’s biggest rock bands including fellow Guns N’ Roses members Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer. Tommy Stinson and Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal; Thin Lizzy’s Ricky Warwick; Mike Dupke and Mike Duda of W.A.S.P.; Psychedelic Furs saxophonist Mars Williams and many more.

Sleaze: immoral, sordid, and corrupt behavior or material.
No band epitomizes Hollywood sleaze more than Faster Pussycat. Countless bands have adopted their look and demeanor in order to try and ride the Hollywood wave to success. Most fail. For those bands it’s a costume…an act. For Faster Pussycat it’s a way of life. They said it best in their own song “Sex, drugs & Rock-n-Roll” off their 2006 album “The Power and the Glory Hole”. However don’t be mistaken, they are much more than an image. First and foremost they are a rock n roll band that has put out consistently great records and given it all on stage, where it counts the most.
Singer Taime Downe formed the band in 1986, taking its name from the cult classic Russ Meyer film Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! In 1987 they released their self-titled debut album which went gold. The album was loaded with sexual innuendo and bravado and struck a nerve in the glam rock community, though they were always a little more down and dirty than glam. During that time they were interviewed and played two songs (Cathouse and Bathroom Wall) in the documentary film “The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years. The documentary captured the general vibe of the Sunset Strip bands during that time period, with Faster Pussycat being featured front and center.
In 1989 they released the album “Wake me when it’s over”, which spawned the massive top 25 hit single “House of Pain” propelling them beyond the sunset strip to worldwide acclaim. They received substantial airtime on MTV for the video and toured with some of the biggest bands in history: Guns n Roses, David Lee Roth, Motley Crue, Kiss, Alice Cooper and many more. They were able to reach fans all across the world and the sunset strip seemed endless as fans clamored for a taste of the famed Faster Pussycat sleaze. The album went gold and to this day many hail “House of Pain” as one of the greatest power ballads of all time. The band’s line-up during this time was Taime Downe (vocals), Greg Steele (guitar), Brent Muscat (guitar), Kelly Nickels (bass) and Mark Michals (drums).
In 1992 the band released the album Whipped and toured in support of it. Following the tour the band broke up, with each member heading in separate musical directions.
Taime Downe decided to go in a more industrial rock direction working with the Chicago-based band Pigface, before relocating back to Los Angeles to form The Newlydeads, who would release three albums. Their self-titled debut, a remix album titled “Re-bound” and “Dead End”.
In 2001 Taime Downe decided it was time to get Faster Pussycat back together to give the world another dose of the Hollywood Sleaze that had all but disappeared during the grunge era. Muscat and Steele rejoined the band along with The Newlydeads core members; Xristian Simon, Danny Nordahl and Chad Stewart.
Faster Pussycat quickly put out a collection of industrial remixes of the band’s early songs produced by Downe and played to enthusiastic crowds around the world. During this time Muscat and Steele left again.
2006 saw the band’s first full-length release in 14 years, “The Power & The Glory Hole” and proved that under Taime’s leadership the band was in good hands. 2009 saw the release of a live album “Front Row for the Donkey Show”. Both were put out by Full Effect and the reviews were positive.
In 2010 guitarist Ace Von Johnson joined Faster Pussycat cementing the current line-up. The interjection of fresh blood into the band was immediately noticeable as his high energy performance rejuvenated the band and their live performances. It was like 1987 again.
Faster Pussycat is currently working on a new EP and doing what they’ve always done, touring heavily, rocking the fuck out of every venue they play and keeping the spirit of Hollywood Sleaze alive and well.
